Most hospitals and many medical groups offer significant discounts for services paid in cash within 30 days of the service or treatment. You may be able to reduce the bills 30% to 50%. Talk to the billing office, hospital staff and/or a social worker on staff. Tip: Before you check out of the hospital ask for help to lower the bill. Also depending on your situation, condition, age and many other factors, the hospital may have a foundation, or other funds to assist you. Ask about options.
